ABOUT ABOUT

PANIC in 2019 will take place on the first Saturday of every month and this month it lands on April 6th.

Our third PANIC of the year brings us a veteran guest artist from Portland in the form of the PLUS8 recording artist, Bryan Zentz. We can't wait to hear his unmistakeable Tribal Techno.

We are very pleased to have Los Angeles' rising star, Annika Wolfe. We originally booked Annica for our thirsd PANIC event but life conspired against us and she was unable to play. Fresh off her set with Regis & Broken English Club at Synthetik Minds & WORK by 6AM, Annica brings a certified fressness to her own brand of scintillating Techno.

Joining the Terrakoma boys in our outdoor courtyard is the well traveled elder statesman of the U.K.'s Tech-House scene, Pete Bones. His Red Ant Record Label continues to thrive and Pete's solid gold grooves will make all our regulars most definitely, cut-a-rug.

BRYAN ZENTZ
www.soundcloud.com/bzentz

Bryan has been performing since the age of 16. He started off playing with bands influenced by DC area hardcore punk like Bad Brains and Minor Threat as well as the heavy politically charged crunch of Amebix, Crucifix and Discharge. Later he noticed the same release of aggression and wall of noise in hip hop. The production techniques of Marley Marl, Mantronix, The Bomb Squad for Public Enemy and the unmistakable sound of Eric B & Rakim, helped establish a source of inspiration. Early exposure to synth-based bands like Kraftwerk, and The Human League, paved the way for the more industrial side of Skinny Puppy, Cabaret Voltaire and Tackhead alongside the house and techno productions of Inner City, LFO, Fast Eddie, 808 State, Basic Channel, Underground Resistance, Robert Hood & Jeff Mills. His style is a combination of all these influences along with his own vision of the future.

His DJing and live p.as have landed him headlining spots at Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Twilo (New York), The Rex (Paris), I Love Techno, and The Detroit Electronic Music Festival among others. The labels which he has recorded for read like a Who's Who of techno music: from early output as Barada on Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva's Definitive label, Dave Angel's Rotation, Felix Da Housecat's Clashbackk as Stare5, dark electro as Bryan Never on Electrix, as well as Soma, Morris Audio, and many more. He has also completed full length albums for Carl Cox's label Intec and Definitive/Virgin as well as remixing Ken Ishii, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Mazi, and Onionz among others.

In 2004 Bryan started his own record label Disruptor. A sonic blend of Detroit, Jamaica, and New York, Disruptor is a techno label encompassing many of Bryan's influences and interests such as dub reggae, street art, and the hardcore/punk aesthetic. Since then, Bryan has relocated to Portland Oregon where he rides his bicycle, eats vegan donuts, holds two DJ residencies and has recorded several eps for Tronic Music Circle Music, Morris Audio, CMYK MUSIC and Plus8.

LINUS
www.soundcloud.com/slynus

Linus' DJ career started in Muncie, Indidana. He played at raves all over the Mid-West from 1992 - 1994. In 1995 he moved back to London and started a record label, had a residency at the Paradise with Howie B., opened a record shop called, Vinyl Addiction and was a regular DJ for the infamous sound collective, Sancho Panza.

In 1998 Linus created his Slynus alter ego and his tunes of looped up, hypnotic techno went on to be played by many of the top techno dj's at that time, including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Lee Burridge, Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier. Carl Cox made Linus' first release, 'The Shifter' his tune of the month and played it to over 200,000 people at the Love Parade in Berlin.

Linus went on to remix George Michael, Love Tattoo, Spandau Ballet, Axe Corner, Trigger and many more. His Slynus remixes and singles have sold over in excess of 50,000 vinyl records. In 1999, Mixmag named Linus as 'One to Watch'. The first release in the Slynus series was played for five consecutive weeks on Pete Tong’s legendary BBC Radio One show, the Essential Mix.

Nice things people have said about his Slynus records.

‘It’s a hot jam’
- Jeff Mills- (Slynus - The Shifter)
‘Picture your most twisted dancefloor moment. Your brain is engulfed in bassline filth. Your mates fear for you, then a vocal peeps in, turns gurns into smiles and sends the dancefloor into raptures.’
- Mixmag - (Slynus - Son of a Monk)
‘I was playing one of your tracks the other day and it was really cool and really weird’.
- Richie Hawtin - (Slynus III)
‘I played it in Argentina and the place went nuts’
- Lee Burridge - (Slynus II)
‘I made it my tune of the month’
- Carl Cox - (Slynus - The Shifter)

Linus is now based in Los Angeles and made an album with Amy White called 'The Black Below' and 'The Black Below - Remixed' featuring remixes by Howie B, Terry Francis, Alexi Delano, Mononoid, Jem Stone, Joseph S Joyce, Pete Bones, Tunnel, Alison Marks, Russ Gabriel, and Mike Bryant aka A New Low. It was released by the very nice people at Default Position.

PETE BONES
www.soundcloud.com/petebones

In '92 he launched Ugly Bug records. It was an instant hit, especially with big hitting radio djs Pete Tong and Judge Jules. Pete became a resident guest on Kiss 100fm, and his first release as his main recording alias, The Shaker, 'Just Lick It', became the club hit of the year, and was signed to over 30 compilation albums. The remix work came flooding in, from labels such as London, FFRR, Hooj, Ore, Fade, and Perfecto. His remix of Zee's Dreamtime was essential new tune on Pete Tong's BBC Radio1 show, and finally in 96 Pete signed to XL recordings, after a 3 way struggle between A&M, XL, and Maifesto to secure his signature. He went on to release 3 more singles under the Shaker guise˜Mooncat', 'Strong to Survive' and 'Star' which were all massive club anthems around the world. His djing skills started to attract the talents of promoters as far afield as Russia, S.Africa, as well as New York, L.A. and Denver in the USA. Pete was a regular guest at Amnesia and Bora Bora in Ibiza, as well as an international resident at Firestone, Buzz, and Simons in the US. Pete launched a new label: Red Ant Records. Over 100 releases later, Red Ant is going from strength to strength releasing cutting edge underground dance music. The label has artists such as Alex Costa, The Shaker, Zero the Hero, Justin Drake, Hair Band Drop Out, The Presslaboys and the Sleepfreaks, always careful to avoid the restrictions born of the obsession with pigeon-holing dance music. More recently Pete has toured with American industrial legends the Thrill Kill Kult, and played alongside Nick Warren, Sasha, Carl Cox, Tommie Sunshine and Mr C. As an artist Pete has signed to the highly rated CitySeven records out of London, and Pangea Records from Los Angeles.

His full-time residency with DROID BEHAVIOR has contributed to his constantly growing fanbase and allowed him to maintain close relationships with some of the industry’s most renowned engineers, producers and artists.
